WTC defeats Phoenix College

HOBBS, N.M. — Western Texas College women’s basketball team opened the season with a 77-52 win over Phoenix College at the Estacado FCU-Thunderbird Basketball Classic Thursday.
WTC outscored Phoenix 38-10 in the paint and held a 46-23 rebounding advantage.
Jaelyn Goodloe grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds while Ashlan Smith and Keiarra Rivers each had eight rebounds. Monique Ware and Rachel Clifton each had three assists.
Corbriyana Wingfield, who made 7-of-10 field goals, led the Lady Westerners with 20 points. Goodloe added 11 points.
WTC led 24-15 after the first quarter and increased the lead to 45-28 at halftime. The Lady Westerners outscored Phoenix 17-10 in the third quarter.
WTC (1-0) was scheduled to play Northern Oklahoma College-Enid at 3 p.m. today in the classic.
