TAPR results on Hermleigh ISD agenda

The Hermleigh ISD school board will hold a public hearing to discuss the district’s performance on the Texas Academic Performance Report tonight.
Hermleigh received a letter grade of “C” on the report, which is a detailed breakdown of the district’s performance on the annual State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness test.
On 2019’s test, 58 percent of Hermleigh students scored “Approaches Grade Level or Above,” compared to 78 percent for the state of Texas and 77 percent for Region 14. 
In Hermleigh, 28 percent of students scored “Meets Grade Level or Above,” compared to 50 percent for the state and 47 percent for Region 14; and nine percent of Hermleigh students scored “Masters Grade Level,” compared to 24 percent for the state and 21 percent for Region 14. 
Trustees will also vote on Superintendent Cassie Petty’s contract and are scheduled to perform her evaluation during a closed session. 
The board will hear and vote whether to approve the annual Financial and Compliance Report for the fiscal year ending Aug. 31, 2019.
The school board will also hear several informational items, including reports from Petty and from Principal Amber Palmer. 
The school board will also consider accounts payable and approval of the district’s investment report during the meeting.
The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the district’s board room, located at 8010 Business U.S. Hwy. 84 in Hermleigh.
